

Anne Wootten's career has included directing and choreographing for theatre, television, and film. She choreographed the dance scenes for THE GILDA RADNER STORY, STRIKE, A SAINTLY SWITCH, and THE LAST DON; for Bette Midler and Dennis Farino in the Carl Reiner film THAT OLD FEELING; for Brian Dennehy and Chris Farley in TOMMY BOY; for Patrick Dempsey in the ABC mini-series JFK: RESTLESS YOUTH; for Jason Robards in the Emmy-winning Disney television movie MARK TWAIN AND ME; and for Matthew Broderick and Penelope-Ann Miller in THE FRESHMAN, which also starred Marlon Brando. In addition, she choreographed the strippers' scene in the Jean Claude Van Damme film, MAXIMUM RISK. Other film credits include Dance Coordinator on Tri-Star's SING. Ms. Wootten also choreographed episodes of the ROAD TO AVONLEA and BEYOND REALITY television series.
Ms. Wootten directed COLETTE: THE COLOURS OF LOVE at Talk is Free Theatre. She also directed the radio adaptation for CBC. She was the Resident Director for URINETOWN – THE MUSICAL at CanStage in Toronto. Anne directed the world premiere of ON ALBERT STREET at Theatre Aquarius in Hamilton. She was also Assistant Director to Robin Phillips on the CanStage premiere of LARRY’S PARTY [book and lyrics by Richard Ouzounian, music by Marek Norman]. Other theatre credits include eight seasons as Consulting Director/ Choreographer at the Stratford Festival. Productions included GYPSY, THE MIKADO, HMS PINAFORE, GUYS AND DOLLS and CAROUSEL. She was Assistant Director on the original stage and television version of THE MIKADO at Stratford, The Royal Alex, London's Old Vic, and its triumphant run on Broadway. She was also Assistant Director on the Stratford stage and CBC television productions of THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE, IOLANTHE, and THE GONDOLIERS.
Ms. Wootten was Artistic Director of REPRISE CONCERTS, a company that produced concert versions of classic musicals at Toronto’s St. Lawrence Centre. She directed three of its four productions: Stephen Sondheim’s COMPANY; Frank Loesser’s GUYS AND DOLLS; and Cole Porter’s ANYTHING GOES, about which the Toronto Star said “The atmosphere she creates with a few props, a hat or two and some simple choreography – a touch of soft-shoe here, a quick tableau there – is little short of magic.”
Other directing credits include: TOO MARVELOUS FOR WORDS, starring Scott Walker; THE JOURNEY OF HOPE at Toronto's Skydome; GREASE at Stage West, which starred Tina Yothers; THE MUSIC MAN at Centre-in-the-Square in Kitchener; and HANS CHRISTMAS ANDERSEN at St. Lawrence Centre. She was Artistic Director and co-writer of TRANSITIONS…AFTER THE DANCE, a multi-media gala performance featuring more than 100 Canadian dance, theatre, and television artists at Toronto’s Winter Garden Theatre.
Ms. Wootten is married to singer & broadcaster Scott Walker. They live in Victoria, British Columbia with a very spoiled dog named Tango.
